They pose a
huge safety risk. Dangerous not protective!
Fire Extinguishers are more than just a red canister filled with water. They have components that wear out. Extinguishing agents that expire over time. Seals that deteriorate and become weak spots.
When these pressurised containers are dented, slammed by doors or rammed with trolleys and forklifts... they are worse than ineffective. They become a dangerous hazard! Maintenance and servicing are an obligation for a very good reason.
Management and/or your
Responsible Person must take action to stop your people's behaviour compromising Fire Safety.

British Standard 5306 (BS 5306) is a comprehensive set of guidelines for Fire Extinguishing installations and equipment on premises. This is the standard all Fire Protection companies must work to. And, of course, at Armoury, we do.
Some important things to consider:
- Responsible Person: Defined as the individual or entity responsible for Fire Safety provisions in the premises.
- Competent Person: An individual with the necessary training and experience to perform Extinguisher maintenance.
- Evaluation of Fitness: Extinguishers found to be defective must be categorised as "Condemned" or "Corrective Action Required".
- Component Replacement: Only components supplied or specified by the manufacturer should be used
BS 5306 works in conjunction with the
Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to form a comprehensive approach to Fire Safety management in the UK.
